The Easiest Method to Test for Peripheral Arterial Disease and Chronic Venous Insufficiency
The PADnet+ eliminates the use of Doppler Ultrasound to obtain segmental blood pressures, the basis for the ABI (ankle brachial index) and TBI (toe brachial index) values. Many clinical experts believe the ABI is the single best screening test for cardiovascular disease, and the TBI is a replacement for the ABI for those patients whose ankle vessels are non-compressible.
PADnet+ also includes a pulse volume recorder (plethysmograph), technology which produces pulse volume recordings (PVR waveforms), an indication of the functional status of the limb. Combining segmental pressures and PVR waveforms, physicians can quickly assess both the quality and quantity of blood flow.
PADnet+ now also includes post-exercise PAD testing and venous refill (CVI) testing. For some patients with PAD, symptoms can be masked. At rest studies may be equivocal or the patient may report symptoms of claudication which are not supported by the findings. By having patients perform toe-ups or moderate exercise on a treadmill to induce symptoms, blood flow increases 3-5 times, making it easier to detect arterial stenosis, an abnormal narrowing in blood vessels. Arterial stenosis is masked at a resting state when ankle-brachial values exceed 1.00. Beyond initial diagnosis, post-exercise testing helps track changes in patients symptoms over time.
The PADnet+ venous refill test is for primary diagnosis of insufficiencies and incompetence (damaged valves that no longer close properly) of the superficial venous system. By measuring venous refill time, it can identify only the presence or absence of disease. It is not intended to find the severity, location or source of reflux (the backward flow of blood). And it is not a method of detecting Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).

Diagnosis and recommendations are sent back usually within 48 hours. Patients who really need follow up care can be referred on for higher level assessment and treatment. Specialists who participate as Hubs in PADnet+ networks receive new patients this way — patients who they can truly help.
Comprehensive Training Ensures Quality
A complete training and certification program is supplied for each person who will be performing PADnet+ tests. It includes a 3-part training manual covering the basics of vascular disease, diagnostic testing methods, and basics of test interpretation. All test site personnel will be required to read the manuals and complete progress checks satisfactorily to earn certification to perform PADnet+ tests. In addition, they will have their first 10 tests reviewed for accuracy and completeness. The certification itself is provided by the American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine (http://www.acfaom.org/), a CME provider since 1949.
