Forum FAQ Q. What is the purpose of this forum? A. The main purpose of this forum is to connect podiatry practices with patients. Any patient can ask any question posting it to the appropriate practice sub-forum or to one of general forums. Q. What is the Forum structure? A. The Forum is divided into several main parts.
The Forums located in the General Category should be used mostly by the Forum Administrators.
The Forum called Podiatry, located in the Podiatry Category, should be used by Medical Providers.
The Forum called Podiatry Practices and Patients can be used by everyone to post general questions without relationship to an appropriate practice.
There are a few huge categories containing many forums divided by Countries (currently USA and Canada) / States / Practices. These forums can be used by the appropriate practice staff and practice patients. Although if you are looking for a practice in your area do not hesitate to join the appropriate sub-forum to ask your questions.
Q. Who can post messages and read them? A. Anybody can register to get a free account on our forum and start posting messages as soon as registration is confirmed with email. That prevents spammers to easily get to our forum and start posting inappropriate messages. Q. Is registration free? A. Yes, the registration is absolutely free. You just need to provide your real email address to confirm the registration. Q. Do I need to use my real name for the registration? A. It's up to you what name or alias to be used. But keep in mind two things. Once you started using your real name this information will be propagated to the Internet and will be avaialble for the searching engines. So you'd better use a real name for general questions or to ask a practice related information if it's not person sensitive. You are free to use an alias, but in this case nobody will know your real name and sometimes it will be harder to answer your questions. On the other hand, it's strongly recommended for the medical office staff to use real names to let people know whom they are talking to. Finally if medical provider uses his real name it's more than clear that patients will go to him after they received a very detailed answer on this forum. So please, medical providers, do not lose this oportunity to get more patients using your real names and providing a complete contact information. Q. How can I add my own contact info that I'd like to be shown after my postings? A. If you go to Your Profile => Edit Profile, you will find the link called Signature. You can add any information about yourself to this text box. It should be added right after every posting that you send to the forum. You don't need to sign every message, it will be automatically done. You can also use URLs for your practice if you are medical provider. Q. Can we create our own sub-forum for our Podiatry Practice? A. Yes you can. There is a special Forum created for that purpose. It is visible only to registered users. Once you registered on the forum you can use this special Forum located in General Category to submit your information. This forum is pre-moderated. You will not see your message when you post it to this forum. Once your forum is created you will receive a confirmation email message to the email address that you provided as your contact info. Q. Can we post images or some other documents to the forum? A. Yes you can. Just keep in mind that as soon as you posted your document it becomes available to the entire Internet. Please do not post any private documents or the documents that you don't want to be freely shared on the Internet. Q. Can we post images or video fragments located on other sites using links? A. Yes you can. You can add the URL to your posting. The forum will recognize it and when the user clicks this link it will be opened in a new browser window. Q. Can I receive automatic email notices informing me about new posting to the forums that I like? A. Of course you can. This feature is enabled by default. If you receive too many messages you can easily correct or completely disable it. Q. Do I need to register and get account on the forum? A. You don't need to register to read the most of the sub-forums. But you need to consider the following. 1) Some of the sub-forums remain visible only to the registered forum participants. 2) It is very convenient to be registered to get automatic updates if the content of the sub-forum that you are interested in was updated. 3) You will be able to start your own topic or to post the answer to the existing topics, take part in a discussion, etc. Admin

Q. We want to post our photos and video, but not sure how.A. You can post any external links typing the link as it is. It will be added to your posting and if you click it the link will be opened in a new browser window. You can also upload your photos together with your posting if you check the checkbox below called "Attach files to this post". The maximum size of attached files is currently set to 2 MB. This limit can be increased when required but for most situations it's more than enough to keep it this way. If you want to include video from youtube.com you can add a short link to your video between special tags: Code:
[youtube]www.youtube.com/yourlink[/youtube]
If you include the video using the these special tags it will be embedded into your posting. You can get the required link if you open youtube page and then click the Share button below your video. The link that you will need to copy should appear below the button that you clicked. Q. We want to use different colors and text centering, but not sure how.A. You can use usual html tags with [] instead of <>. For example: Code:
[color=Blue][b]Your Text[/b][/color]
Result: Your TextCode:
[center][color=Green][b]Your Text[/b][/color][/center]
Result: Your Text Q. How can we embed the image?A. Use the example code below: Tonto Natural Bridge Code:
[center] [size=6][b]Tonto Natural Bridge[/b][/size] [url=http://www.Have2See.com/Photos/Tonto%20Bridge,%20AZ,%202007-05-27%2008.jpg] [img]http://www.Have2See.com/Photos/150/Tonto%20Bridge,%20AZ,%202007-05-27%2008.jpg[/img] [/url] [/center]

Q. What would you recommend a podiatrist to post?A. You can post anything that could be interesting to other podiatrists, to patients and all other people. You can describe an unusual case, a new treatment, a procedure, you can give an advice how to improve this or avoid that, how to do something more efficiently, publish information about new invention, new book, intersting conference, meeting, courses, school, etc. You are not limited with some particular topic or any set of pre-defined topics. Create a new interesting one, post your question or article to an appropriate sub-forum and invite others to your discussion. You can post your own articles or the articles belonging to other people if they gave you permission for publishing them and these publications don't affect somebody's copyright. If you published something, then you are responsible for any possible copyright related issues if they appear. In some particulat cases we can ask you to remove something from the forum if we get a request from a copyright holder. But if this is your publication and you signed it with your name, then it's great and will never create any problem. Our forum is a tool helping you to contact to each other, to publish your information. You can use photos to your postings. There are two different ways to do that. You can attach your photos and they will appear in the very end of your posting, or you can add a link to some external Internet resource. These methods were described in the previous FAQ items above. If you think that we need to add a new sub-forum for something special do not hesitate to contact us directly: Admin@MyFootTalk.com. We can also create a new sub-forum for your practice and you can discuss your practice related questions with your doctors and your patients. If you want to make your forum private and visible only to your practice we can do that, but it's not very popular since it will be invisible for other people interested in reading it. You will be able to moderate your own sub-forum and add the direct link to your sub-forum to your email messages. People will be able to find and open your postings in just one click. If you want to post any patient related information do not include the patient name if you don't have the patient's written permission. And even in this case we'd recommend you to avoid the patient personal info like name, DOB, etc. to be included into your postings. Internet is a very interesting tool. Once published, your information starts living its own life and it's almost impossible to remove it even if your patient changed his or her mind. So be careful with that to avoid possible troubles. Don't forget to sign your postings to let readers know if you are a professional podistrist, doctor or patient. You can make the forum add your signature automatically if you correct it in your profile. Open "My Profile" link at the top of this page, find the "Signature" link under the "Personal Profile" and add your information. Your signature will be added after all your postings, even to the previously published ones. You can add your name, doctor specialization, say DPM, practice name, address, web site, phone number, etc. Please make sure that your signature is not very long, at least not longer than your publication. 1-2 lines would be great. Q. Why I do not receive email messages from the forum and even can not activate my new registration via email?A. There are two news. The bad news is that there are many spammers and that's the main reason wny several Internet Providers, including AOL, are blocking all the email messages from a huge list of email servers without even thinking about their clients, or maybe probably thinking that they are doing that for good. The good news is that there are much more Internet Providers never doing that for their customers. You can also create a new mail box for free using one of free Internet services like Gmail: http://gmail.comYou can create a new separate email account just for the forum or you can also use it for some other purposes. It's up to you. Just keep in mind how convenient these free email services are. The amount of data that you can keep there exceeds 6-7 GBytes and it keeps growing. We checked gmail.com and verified that it accepts our email messages. COX also accepts our messages with no problems. AOL doesn't accept and rejects with no explanation. In the worst case scenario please throw us an email message explaining your problem and we can help you to start a new free email account. Just keep in mind that if you sent us email from your AOL mail box you'll never get the answer from us. We can activate your forum account without email confirmation, but it doesn't make you any good since you can't receive updates, news or reset your own password if you lost one. Black List:- AOL.com
- Compuserve.com
- Qwest.net ?

Q. I registered more than once because I forgot my original login and found that it's much easier to create a new account than to recover the first one. But is there any way to retrieve all my logins that I created?A. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly at Admin@MyFootTalk.com and send a list of your logins, maybe some fragments of your logins to let us retrieve the whole list and send it to you. You can then try these logins one by one and if they are yours you will be able to recover and reset your password using your email that you assigned to these logins. In the worst case if this login belongs to another user this user, not you, will receive email with the password. So it's safe for the users even if you try to use somebody else's login. Admin

It look like the issue with AOL is fixed. Thanks to Arvixe (click the link at the bottom of this page). Their support is incredible as usual. It can take some time to spread the changes over the Internet. Ideally the problem should be totally eliminated in the next 30+ hours. Hopefuly the same fix will work with all other mail servers blocking our email messages. Admin

Q. I don't see any videos posted to the forum. Why?A. First you should check if you can watch videos on www.youtube.com web site. If you can watch videos on youtube, then you should be able to watch videos on our forum. If this is still an issue please make sure that your browser has the flash player installed and this plug-in is enabled. You can try to install a newer version of Adobe Flash Player from here: http://www.adobe.com/sup...shplayer/downloads.html or here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/Admin
